Dark Sky Viewing

Lakeland Provincial Park & Provincial Recreation Area together form an official Dark Sky Preserve, which means they’re unspoiled by light pollution. The preserve offers fantastic opportunities to see constellations, meteor showers, the Northern Lights and more in all their glory. The third weekend of September is the annual Lakeland Dark Sky Celebration, hosted by Alberta Parks.

We recommend skygazing at Pinehurst Lake Day Use Area, which has panoramic views to the north, east and west.
