WHAT TO DO: GEOCACHING

Feel like a modern day voyageur as you map coordinates across the region as your find hidden treasures or make your own for others to discover.

If you are not familiar with geocaching, it is an outdoor recreational activity where individuals use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches”, anywhere in the world. Within the Lac La Biche region there are several, and with your help there can be even more to discover!

If you’re wondering how to find out about various caches, visit Geocaching.com or check out your ‘app store’ on your mobile device for various apps that allow you to track, locate, and add your cache into a world-wide system for other explorers to discover!

Alberta Parks offers some tips, ettiquette, program information, and guidelines for placement of a cache if you choose to leave a treasure in a provincial park.
