This is your cue to check out the newest place to play pool in Lac La Biche – Mo’s Billiards and Internet Café on 102nd Avenue. Inside are 12 pool tables, 3 dartboards, 4 big screen tvs, a jukebox and pub-style food. And outside is a huge balcony with a spectacular lake view.
Behind Mo’s counter is owner, operator, bartender, chief cook, and bottle-washer, Mike McArthur. This man does it all! He even completed the finishing touches inside the pool hall himself.
Pop in and play by the hour or register for upcoming pool and dart leagues. Mo’s will also host special events such as live music, karaoke parties, UFC fight nights and playoff hockey games.
The first man to greet you when you come up the stairs is French Canadian strongman, Louis Cyr. Actually, it’s a 3 ft ceramic sculpture of Cyr – the strongest man to ever have lived! Cyr is known for his recorded feats, including lifting 500 lbs with one finger and backlifting over 4,000 lbs. And what is the tie to Mo’s you ask? The answer is family ties! Louis Cyr was Mike’s grandfather’s second cousin. The family talent doesn’t end there – Mike’s brother, Brian McArthur, is the ceramic artist behind the sculpture and also has other ceramic pieces hanging on the walls around the hall.
My first visit at Mo’s ended with sinking the eight ball when I shouldn’t have.. Oh well, chalk it up to life experience!
