LAC LA BICHE REGIONAL INFORMATION
The Lac La Biche region is composed of a group of regional communities and municipalities: Lac La Biche County, Beaver Lake Cree Nation, Heart Lake Cree Nation, Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement, and Kikino Metis Settlement. As of 2013, the population of the region is approximately 15,121.
Dating back to the fur trade era, the Lac la Biche Region has always been a key player in the trade of primary resources and the transportation routes of road and rail transporting both primary and secondary goods. Lac La Biche is the connector of highways 36, 55, 881 and the only northern rail corridor to Fort McMurray. In our region other significant north eastern routes like highway 63 connect to our highway arteries.
